Adventures in Home Education
Emotional Learning on the Curriculum Half a snake from our homemade snakes and ladders board. From the beginning, making the board was an authentic opportunity that presented itself, and would cover problem-solving, eco and consumer awareness, maths, functional and asthetic design, planning, collaboration and emotional development - that's 'whole learning' in action. However, it turns out we needed to revisit the emotional development side, when the long snake we had already discussed the emotions tied to, proved to be too long. We had opinions to give up, totally remove the snake or find a length for it we could all manage. Education in our 'setting' is set up for healthy emotional development. |
