Job : Magical Lantern Walk
|
To brand this new local community event, I started off by using warm colours, a type face that hinted at how many centuries lantern walks have been happening on the 11 November, and a simple easy to recognise symbol for the younger audience to latch on to. I also tied in images of Oakham landmarks and kept the artwork more mature and magical, instead of simple and childlike - to keep the event open to all ages even though it was obviously for the children.
In the lead up to the event, A3 posters and point-of-sale cards were distributed in local shops, and a facebook page set up to spread sharable content. The local newspapers, radio and libraries shared the information through their platforms. This event happened in 2018 and 2019, and went on hold in 2020 due to the coronavirus restrictions. Both event years attracting crowds of around 200 people. |
